Jahnu Barua conferred Bhupen Hazarika award

Eight time National award winner director Jahnu Barua was conferred the primary ever Bhupen Hazarika award to recognize his contribution to Indian cinema. The award, instituted within the memory of the late musical icon by Pune-based organization Sarhad, known for its work in border areas and conflict zones, was presented to the Assamese filmmaker at a ceremony last evening by former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta.

An alumnus of the celebrated FTII here, Barua spoke about his days in city as a movie student and the way he managed to be informed Marathi. “NO PERSON would have thought that an award made within the name of Bhupen Hazarika who hails from Assam be initiated by a Pune-based organization. With this, Sarhad proved that there would not be boundaries in relation to art and culture,” Sarhad president Sanjay Nahar said the award is an effort to improve people-to-people contact and supply a lift to development within the northeast.

Experiencing spirituality on tha temporary Siddhivinayak temple here was “amazing” for international socialite Paris Hilton, who was here on a brief trip.After spending time with children at an orphanage here Monday, Paris visited the temple.

“Went to the Siddhivinayak temple for a blessing. Amazing to be in this sort of spiritual and special place. Blessed,” she tweeted.

The 31-year-old was here to spin the disc on the recently concluded India Resort Fashion Week held in Goa and likewise walked the ramp for designer duo Shane and Falguni Peacock. She had a stopover in Mumbai.

Hilton, who was on her second visit to India, went to an orphanage named Ashray in suburban Bandra and spent some quality time with the children there. She even grooved to popular song “Chammak challo” with them, and distributed presents.

Her first visit to the rustic was in 2011, when she came to launch her range of purses and accessories for the Indian market.

Waheeda breaks into tears unveiling Dev Anand`s statue

Yesteryear actress Waheeda Rehman was in tears as she unveiled a life-like brass statue of screen legend Dev Anand here, and said the actor-filmmaker still remains alive in lots of hearts.”He isn’t here with us today and i’m unveiling his statue. His name will always be remembered within the film industry forever. He’ll be alive within the people’s heart,” a tearful Waheeda said here through the launch Monday, Dev Anand’s first death anniversary.

The statue was unveiled on the Bandra Bandstand Promenade here as a part of UTV Stars’ property Walk of the Stars.

Remembered as Bollywood’s evergreen hero, Dev Anand died of cardiac arrest last year in London. He was 88.

Waheeda, who made her debut opposite Dev Anand within the 1956 film “C.I.D.” and featured with him in a complete of 7 movies, says the actor was modern yet simple at heart.

“One thing I SPOTTED about Dev saheb was that he was modern yet simple at heart. He never had stylish cars, never had an enormous birthday bash and no show offs,” she said.

“When I did my first film with him, he was a celeb but he never made me realise (I USED TO BE a newcomer) because he was so cooperative and friendly,” added the 76-year-old.

Dev Anand’s son Suneil Anand was also present at the occasion, and said: “I’M touched that my legendary farther Dev Anand is being honoured. Thanks a lot.”

Dev Anand started his career within the black-and-white era with 1946 film “Hum Ek Hain”, and spent 65 years as an actor and filmmaker in Bollywood. He left an indelible mark within the minds of movie buffs with classics like “Baazi”, “Paying Guest”, “Guide”, “Jewel Thief” and ”Hare Rama Hare Krishna”.

Kareena won’t cut her hair to play TV reporter

Actress Kareena Kapoor is in no mood to chop her shiny hair to get into the role for Prakash Jha’s movie Satyagrah. The actress, who’s planned to begin filming early next season, will essay the nature of a TV reporter within the movie.

Reportedly her role relies at the worldwide popular TV reporter Christiane Amanpour who’s recognized for her reporting abilities from strife-torn countries. Also, Christiane is renowned for her stylish office attire and short locks.

Salman Khan asked to look in Mumbai court on December 27th

Actor Salman Khan was directed to seem in a Mumbai court on December 27. The Police have also been asked to wait. The court issued notice to Salman Khan and to the cops in response to a report that the police faked documents and evidence to assist Salman Khan in a hit-and-run case. The case was filed by lawyer-activist Abha Singh.

Salman Khan had rammed right into a bakery in suburban Bandra, killing 1 and hurting 4 others resting on a roads, Sept 28, 2002. The case remains to be being tried. Actress won’t have any film offer presently but she is keeping busy together with her ad endorsements After her debut within the Salman Khan starrer Veer in 2010, Zarine Khan did an item number in another Sallu film Ready and was later seen in Housefull 2. Though there was speculation about her rather not happening film front, she appears to be keeping herself busy with stage shows.

The actress has a reason to cheer now! Zarine have been signed because the face of a jewelry brand. What’s making her much more happy is that the emblem has names like Bipasha Basu, Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Kajol and Sonakshi Sinha endorsing the line.
